It
is normally thought that the planning of the wedding is
the bride's job, however, you, as the groom, have a major
role to play so you should at least have some idea of what
will be expected of you. Here is a list of some suggested
duties:
1.
Suggest writing an engagement announcement.
2.
Make list of guests you would
like to invite and start a spreadsheet with names and addresses.
3.
Help work out a wedding budget.
4.
Choose a Best Man and Groomsmen.
5.
Meet with your Best Man and discuss responsibilities.
6.
Set-up formalwear options for your Groomsmen.
7.
Shop for wedding bands with your bride-to-be.
8.
Help choose boutonniere for your Groomsmen.
9.
Discuss honeymoon options with your bride-to-be. You should
then plan and book everything.
10.
Suggest taking dance lessons.
11.
Book a hotel or other location for your wedding night.
12.
Find maps and other transportation
resources to assist your guests with their plans to attend
your big day.
13.
Set up a date for you and your bride-to-be to obtain the Marriage License.
14. Book wedding day transportation for you and your bride, the wedding party and possibly other family members.
15.
Write a toast/thank-you speech for your guests.
16.
Write up a list of songs for the DJ to play or NOT play.
17.
Pay for and
arrange for payment of officiant fees, musican fees, tips
etc.
18.
Write a special
note thanking your bride for choosing to be your wife.
19.
Write special
notes for your parents and in-laws.
20. The most
important duty of all...tell your bride, over and over
on the day of your wedding, that she looks beautiful!
