Dear Darlene: What time would you advise we have the church ceremony if we are to start the reception at 6/6:30pm in a different location?

Sincerely,
Sinead J. from Ireland

Dear Sinead: If the ceremony is about 45 minutes to 1 hour long then I would suggest you have the ceremony at 4 pm. After the congratulatory hugs and some group photos, it will be after 5pm. By the time everyone drives from the church to the reception location, it will be 5:30pm or a bit later. You may want to give people some time to go to their rooms to freshen up (if they are staying at the location). So you are now at almost 6pm. So I would suggest you start your cocktail reception at 6pm, then followed by the dinner. This way you have time for you and your new husband to take some photographs and it allows for a relaxed pace, which is how you want your wedding day to be.

Sincerely,
Darlene
