Removing Red Wine Stains

 

If you spill red wine onto a table cloth or clothes it is best to take care of it immediately or the stain will last longer than the surface you spilt it on!  To avoid this here are some easy steps: .

Step 1

Pour cold water onto the stained area as quickly as possible.


Step 2
Blot with a cloth and sprinkle salt onto the stain and let it sit for 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Rinse with cold water while rubbing out the wine stain.


Step 4
Repeat steps 1-3 until no more stain can be removed.

Step 5

Rub the stained area with liquid laundry detergent (dish soaps aslo works well) and allow it to stand for a few mintues before rinsing it with cold water.

Step 6

As soon as you get the chance apply a spot stain remover and wash according to clothing directions with liquid laundry detergent.

Warnings

If it is a dry clean only garment, do not pretreat the stain and get it to the cleaners as soon as possible. Pretreatment of the stain can cause irreversible damage and the dry cleaner may not be able to remove the stain.
